Hospitality OSHA Compliance Training

Nearly 3.0 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses were reported by private industry employers in 2012, resulting in an incidence rate of 3.4 cases per 100 equivalent full-time workers, according to estimates from the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII) conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. More than one-half of the nearly 3.0 million private industry injury and illness cases reported nationally in 2012 were of a more serious nature that involved days away from work, job transfer, or restriction. 

Blood Borne Pathogens - Employees are exposed to blood borne pathogens and biochemical wastes everyday because we work with the public in a Hotel setting. A blood borne pathogen is any germ or virus that is found in blood. All other bodily fluids or wastes are bio hazardous wastes. Blood borne pathogens and bio hazardous wastes can be found in the guest rooms, bathrooms, pool area and laundry.  


Hazard Communication - Chemical products have become a part of everyday life. We use them in our homes and on our jobs – sometimes without knowing how to use them correctly or what to do if an accident occurs. You may be exposed to many chemicals on your job. Some of those chemicals could be hazardous, and you should know about it.

Personal Protective Equipment - Personal Protective equipment like gloves, safety shoes, ear plugs, face shields and safety goggles can and will help you avoid injury in the workplace. Some jobs we do put us at risk and the proper use of PPE will help reduce and prevent injury in the workplace if used properly.

Lock-Out/Tag - Before an authorized or affected Employee turns off a machine, vehicle or equipment, the authorized Employee must have knowledge of the type and magnitude of the energy sources, the hazards of the energy to be controlled, and the method or means to control the energy.

Fire Safety - All employees must become familiar with Fire Safety procedures so that they know them by memory and can implement them in case of fire. We can best protect ourselves, our guests and the property if we are well informed.
